On Monday, May 5th, the Humanitarian Action Initiative and the Gender Equality Initiative in International Affairs hosted a powerful panel featuring medical and aid professionals visiting from Tigray, Ethiopia. The panel highlighted the recent closure of mobile clinics in IDP camps and critical services in one-stop shelters following the dismantling of USAID. They also shed light on overlooked issues, including unpaid salaries for medical professionals and the ongoing psychological and financial toll on frontline workers. This conversation underscored the urgent need for sustained international advocacy and investment in community-led humanitarian response.

Panelists

Dr. Dawit Kassa, Dr. Biserat Gebremedhin, Kasha Hagos, RN, and Rita Kashay.
